The Vigilance Firearms Training Instructor, who is an 8-year USAF Veteran, is USCCA Level 2 certified, USCCA certified, and Maryland State Police certified to provide Concealed Carry Permit, Maryland Handgun Qualification License, Personal and Home Defense, Self -Defense Firearms Basics, Shooting Fundamentals, Legal use of Force, Violent Encounters and Their Aftermath, Basic 1 on 1 Skills Training, Maryland HQL-Training Exempt

The Concealed Carry training course is a 16-hour course that's conducted over a two-day period purposed to help prepare students to apply for a concealed carry weapons permit in the state of Maryland. The 16 -hour course, which is provided over two days, encompasses training on the following: Handgun Safety; Semi-automatic and revolver handgun parts and operation; Maryland firearms Laws; Use of Deadly Force; Situational Awareness Mindsets; Shooting Fundamentals; and the mandatory Live Fire session which involves a 25- round qualification course of fire. Students will receive a certificate of completion after successful completion of the course. On Day 2 of the training, students will need to bring their handgun, ear/eye protection, at least 50 rounds of ammunition, 2 magazines, and a holster. Previous experience is not required.
The Concealed Carry renewal training course is a 8-hour course , The 8 -hour course encompasses training on the following: Handgun Safety; Semi-automatic and revolver handgun parts and operation; Maryland firearms Laws; Use of Deadly Force; Situational Awareness Mindsets; Shooting Fundamentals; and the mandatory Live Fire session which involves a 25- round qualification course of fire. Students will receive a certificate of completion after successful completion of the course. Students will be required to bring their handgun, ear/eye protection, 2 magazines, and a holster. Previous experience is not required.
As required by law, Maryland residents must possess a HQL as a requirement to purchase or receive a regulated firearm. the requisite training is valid for a three-year period and must be successfully completed prior to submitting an application for the HQL. The Maryland HQL training is a 4-hour block of training that consists of instruction on state firearms laws, legal use of force; home firearm safety, handgun mechanisms and operation, how to apply for the HQL, and a component that requires the applicant demonstrate the ability to safely fire a handgun. After successfully completing the training, students will receive a certificate of completion . Previous experienced is not required.
This is a 2-hour course that provides training to students on the following: Violent Crime in the United States; Maryland law on the legal use of force; Castle Doctrine; Action Versus Reaction; environment Observation; Safe and effective use of a firearm; Shooting Fundamentals; Situational Awareness; Self Defense Firearms Basics; Planning for Home Security; and Violent Encounters and their Aftermath. Basic knowledge and skill with a handgun are required.
This is a 2-hour course that provides training to students on the following: 4 Universal Safety Rules; Properly clearing Semi-automatics and Revolvers; Detailed Semi-automatic and Revolver explanations; Handgun sizes and weights; Pros and Cons of Different Handgun options; Ammunition Basics; Ammunition and Semi-Automatic Pistol Malfunctions and their Clearance; Introduction to Home Defense Shotguns and the AR-15 Platform; Tasers and Pepper Spray.
This is a 2 to 3 -hour course that provides training to students with minimal firearms experience on the following: 4 Universal Safety Rules; Muscle Memory Development; Proper Grip; Stance (Shooting Platforms); Point Shooting; Flash Sight Picture; Sighted Fire; Optics (Pros/Cons); Gear and Gadgets; and Trigger Control. The course of instruction includes a live fire evaluation component. Students should have a handgun, 100 rounds of ammunition, 2 magazines, eye/ear protection, and a notepad. Basic knowledge and skill with a handgun are required.
This is a 2 -hour course that provides instruction on the Legal Definitions of Reasonable and Deadly Force; the Use of Force Continuum; the Four Pillars for the Justification of the Use of Deadly Force; How Defense in the Home Differs from Outside the Home; and the Defense of Property.
This is a 2-hour course that provides instruction on Understanding Fight or Flight, the Physiological Reactions Associated with Extreme Stress; Issuing Commands and Reviewing Our Options; When we are left with No Other Choice; When the right to Use Deadly Force Ends; the Immediate Aftermath; and Dealing with the Police.
This Basic Skills Training offering, which is conducted in a live fire range setting, is purposed to provide the beginner to intermediate shooter with fundamental instruction on the following: 4 Universal Safety Rules; Sight Picture Alignment; Proper Grip; Shooting Stance; Trigger Control; and Real-Time Coaching Points. Requirements: Be a gun owner; have your own eyes and ears protection; 2 magazines, and 100 rounds of ammunition.
This course of instruction involves the safe handling of a handgun and live fire segment of the HQL training for qualified persons who, per Maryland law, are exempt from the classroom segment of the training. One example of an exemption is being honorably discharged member of the armed forces of the United States or National Guard. For further exemption information, please refer to the Maryland State Police website.
